Well Saulius, what can I say... congratulations for your original and "out of the schemes" project.

Frankly, this is the first time I see tubes and ICs used together in the same circuit.

The 545 series of Tektronix oscilloscopes used a mixed technology, tubes and transistors,

but I don't know if they had also ICs in it. It would be interesting if you could take a few pictures

of your realization, and upload them to the Photos section of the group.

Greetings Excuse me I make mistake: My IQ DRM Decoder for Dream bases

on 2 x EF86 valves http://www.jogis-roehrenbude.de/Roehren-Geschichtliches/Ef86/EF86_SV.pdf

or old russian 6Z32P http://tubedata.tigahost.com/tubedata/sheets/112/6/6Z32P.pdf

valves 2 x EL86 I use in regenerative - autodyne receiver

Yesterday I approximately measure symetric sideband suppression with Dream Input Psd screen:

A: Conditions:

80m Delta Loop H1 = 12m, corners h2 and h3 about 2 ... 3 m DW3995Khz + Sony ICF7600G +

My IQ DRM decoder on 2xEF86 frequency converting to 14 khz +

Creative USB Soudblaster Mp3 audio line one Input 0

start Dream.exe --sampleoff -11.7 -c 0 -E 14000 -S 11000

Sony's frequency display set to 4000Khz or 4028khz

Antena input suppression set to 0 db by Sony's atteniuator

One audio input Results in files:

http://www.smail.lt/~ncss/regen_info/3995_Sony4000+0dbAtt_To14khz.jpg

http://www.smail.lt/~ncss/regen_info/3995_Sony4028+0dbAtt_To14khz.jpg

No Sony's signal http://www.smail.lt/~ncss/regen_info/SonyTurnOff_To14khz.jpg

A. Conclusion:

In this case I think that symetric sideband compensation inside decoder 20 ... 30 db

form from total supression by LC

and Costas IQ phases summarizing (not by Dream)

B: Conditions:

audio line Input 0 and line Input1

start Dream.exe --sampleoff -11.7 -c 3 -E 14000 -S 11000

Two IQ input Results in files:

http://www.smail.lt/~ncss/regen_info/SonyTurnOff_To_IQ14khz.jpg

B. Conclusion:

In this case I think that symetric sideband total compensation 40 ..50 db is better B > A by 10 ... 20 db

form from inside decoder and Dream IQ software components Noise level B < A by 5..10 db

I measuring resistivity and voltage in catode:

LR Channel0: 480 Om , 0.26 V LL Channel1 2270 Om, 0.96 V

2xEF86 anode voltage 33.3 V and summary current 0.92 mA

varying resistivity in valve catode exchanges they electroconductivity, capacity, amplitude,

frequency and phase compensation conditions

Theory about quadrature oscillators i find in article

http://www.ee.ucla.edu/faculty/papers/razavi_2nd-JSSC-sept04.pdf

>> it can be shown that "antiphase" coupling of two identical

>>oscillators forces them to operate in quadrature ...

and

>> reduction of phase noise due to injection locking ...

IQ DRM decoder base on 2 x EF86 valves is self quadrature oscillator, detector, mixer, amplifier

( we can take 14 khz output from anode circuit and throw out low frequency amplifier cascade )

with smaller phase noise than one separate osciillator.

My conclusions and measuring very aproximately and it is necessary repeat with constant

amplitude signal to IQ DRM decoder

Questions:

Who can repeat similar aproximately mesuring on

http://www.sat-schneider.de/download/Mixerflyer.pdf

or similar with inserted optional Quartz ?

Where buy 470Khz Quartz ( not pjezoceramic) ?

Just a note for those who have access to vintage American tubes A 6BQ6 is a direct

replacement for the EL86 and can be found at nearly any hamfest, where I get both for building

custom guitar amps I have several of these around, I may just have to retrofit that

old Hallicrafters S100 ... all tube DRM, too cool Thanks for sharing your circuit,

it's one of those "Now why didn't I think of that?" ideas

Do you actually use all those DFI mobos? smile.gif

Thanks you very much.
Dream is fantastic program.

yes I actually use all those DFI mobos

IQ DRM decoder working excellent on 470khz +- 24khz

Receiver working excellent to 10Mhz, good to 25Mhz

I plan make DDS plate based on AD9954
and with my software ( Delphi ) and FTDI FT232BM
drivers direct control all system and Sony ICF7600G
frequency (connect to externall DDS)

I plan this externall DDS frequency bring from Dream radiostations list.

I plan use regenerative - autodyne receiver
for filtering DDS output - as sinchronous oscillator

Nowhere see self quadrature oscillator, detector,

http://www.deas.harvard.edu/courses/es272/hw4_2005.pdf

Nowhere see simple image rejection receiver

I DX - ed low power and distant radiostations only with my

ICF7600G sensitivity and selectivity smaller many times then regens

Hi Saulius,

look for "polyphase receiver" via Google and you will find some, eg this one.
Also check for "Tayloe detector".

Greetings

Thank you for links.
I see it and etc. , but respectly disagree with you.

How much elements used in "polyphase receiver" or "Tayloe detector" ...
From what oscillator they runs ...
How much energy need for numerical phase twister IC ...
What thermal noise in RC polyphase filter ...

Find in Google "nanotriode"
This information only for IEEE members ...

but:

Imagine in future: if 2 x EF86 equal to 2 x nanotriode ( may be more, but noisy ...) ?! WOW

Additional info about my DRM receiver system:

All power lines ( 220V, 15V, 9V) pass by ferrites toroids .
USB connection to Creative audio pass by ferrites to.
No operating TV sets at home

>> 80m Delta Loop
>> 75 om about 40m length cable with loading 75 om
>> Sony ICF7600G antena input with 10 .. 30 db atteniuation (Sony runs on bateries)
>> about 455 khz IF
>> my IQ DRM Decoder on 2 x EF86 valves

It's hart ( 2 x EF86 ) born from long modification of
SO's (synchronous oscillators) and
Regen's (regeneratyve - autodyne receivers)

Schematic:
http://www.smail.lt/~ncss/regen_info/MyIQD...der_for_DRM.jpg

IMPORTANT: power suply for IQ DRM Decoder:

For valves heating:
IC Universal Regulator MWS9125GS output set to +9V
(minimum impulse stabilization noise and no 50 Hz hum) + 7806 + filter
(10000mkf + audio trasformers secondary L from old TV sets + 10000mkf)
to EF86 heating (about 5.7 ... 6.5V 400 ma)

For valves anodes: 4 or 3 bateries by 9V sum 27 ... 36 V .

>> output 0 and 1 together in quadrature >>

(for noise decreasing in addition loading 2 x 32 om Philips hi-fi headphones
to LM386 output, this IC works better on low load,
and newly balansed chanel 0 and 1 amplitudes to get as much as possible
symetric sideband suppression on -14khz)

>> line inputs (not microphonic) Creative USB Soundblaster MP3 (set maximum amplification level)
>> HP nx5000 (without mouse) netfeeding from 220V 50 hz

and

start Dream.exe --sampleoff -11.7 -c 3 -E 14000 -S 11000

P.S.

Early about 3 months ago I attempting on DW 3995 khz and BBC 1296 khz
I/Q input positive (0 Hz IF) mode

start Dream.exe --sampleoff -11.7 -c 5 -E 6000 -S 11000

This demands newly LC and phase and amplitude balansing in my IQ DRM decoder,
my pjezoceramic rezonators fequencys F1self <> F2self.

For good signal
I get maximum only 17 db S/N on about 0 Hz IF, because systems audio noise growing
when frequency approach to 0 Hz. I use different -300 < IF < 300 Hz frequency depending
of DRM mode.

I think if change pjezoceramics rezonators to pure realy Quarzs rezonators
which F1self = F2self and
they place nearby valves grids may be increase S/N to 25 db when IF about 0 Hz

But where get two identically 470Khz Quartz's ( not pjezoceramic) ?

prof. POLIAKOV Владимир Поляков writes popular about receivers mode 3, 4, 5, 6 teoretically in russian:

Thanks all for FM mode in DREAM

Very interesting analize process with this configuration

AM radiostations signal >> Antenna >> Atteniuator >> SO >> Atteniuator >>
ICF7600G >> IQ DRM Decoder >> Creative Audio >> Computer >>
DREAM in analog demodulation mode

SO is an AM to FM converter or AM to PM

When SO operates below oscillation I use AM demodulation Dream mode

When SO operates at low or strong oscillation I use narrow band frequency
demodulation Dream mode

Input PSD Screenshorts like prof. Razavi theory

fig.9 ©
when signal frequency far from the SO self lock range
- no signal FM demodulation

fig.8 ©
